With pond, my primary purpose was to create an area of “natural” reprieve for the urban dweller. I consider the piece a sociological experiment that aims to see to what extent, if any, the viewer can create a connection (real or perceived) between an artificial representation of an ecosystem and the natural one that it imitates.
